Learn These Codes To Keep Things Confidential With Your Friends

Secrets and best friends go hand in hand. There may be moments when you are really eager to convey some secret information by talking, or through some handwritten notes if you are in the classroom. 

However, it’s easy to intercept them! What if you ask your best friend – What’s for lunch? – and your teacher finds out! 

And if the note falls into wrong hands, your secret may even be leaked. 

What you actually need is a special code or even a language that is exclusively yours to decipher and communicate with. 

To begin with, you can look up Pig Latin. That’s one of the most famous secret codes spoken widely among children and, sometimes, among adults as well.

If you want to innovate and develop your own language, here are some fun and easy ways to create your own secret code and ensure that your message is safe! These are just a few ideas that we thought would get you started. You can either use these methods to develop your language, or do it on your own as well, taking these ideas as examples.

The alphabet code

The language uses the letters of the English alphabet and will come in handy when you write notes and pass them around. This has to possibly be the easiest code to develop. All you have to do is come up with a formula and assign letters of the alphabet to each other.

The easiest (and one of the most obvious ways) has to be the top down method. For example, the first letter A can be paired with the corresponding last letter, Z; the second letter B will be linked to the second last letter, Y; and then C is tied to X, D to W, and the pattern goes on.

However, here are some points that you need to remember. 

You need a comprehensive, detailed reference sheet with all the alphabets encrypted corresponding to English. This rulebook is essential to convey the exact message across.

As much as it is easy to develop, your code can be easily intercepted. A close look at your message can convey the pattern. 

To avoid the risk of your message getting leaked, you can work out another formula:  

You can assign the previous letter. For instance B can be A, C is B, D is C. A can be replaced by Z

With the same basis of cross-assigning alphabets, you can develop several codes.

Jumble Bumble

This code requires less preparation. You can jump to sending messages as soon as you are familiar with the concept. 

All you have to do is reverse the order of alphabets in each word.

Note the difference between the first method and this one. In the former, we had to reverse the order of the entire alphabet, but here it’s just those within the word. 

Here’s an example: 

                 MEET ME OUTSIDE

                        becomes

                 TEEM EM EDISTUO.

This is simple and an effective way to communicate secret messages. You can also innovate and replace the letters with their mirror images sometimes to add to the fun.

Vowel Sandwich

The name is self explanatory! You add a vowel before and after each word in the sentence. Sounds easy, right? 

Here is a sample sentence:

         MEET ME OUTSIDE

                  becomes

         AMEETA AMEA AOUTSIDEA (with the vowel A)

                       Or

         EMEETE EMEE EOUTSIDEE. ( with the vowel E)

You can have five different combinations for one sentence!

Another way to make a secret code using vowels

To make it more challenging, you can reverse the order of the actual word and sandwich them between vowels. 

Consider the same sentence:

         MEET ME OUTSIDE 

           becomes

       ATEEMA AEMA AEDISTUOA ( when you sandwich the words between A)

We assure you that this code has very few chances of being interpreted. 

Go ahead and ask some of your friends or even parents to try. The method is fail proof!

Besides being a rock solid code, there are two other points of advantage to this method as well.

• You can write and speak the new language with the same ease and confidence. With a sufficient number of vowels, you can pronounce the words well. 
• You can also get creative and devise several unique languages using this trick!
