Lessons from a toddler

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”  — Dr. Seuss

Most parents would agree that they have learnt more from the children than they have ever taught them. There are many things that toddlers can teach us if we just paid more attention to them.

In this article, we will cover four lessons you can learn from toddlers.

Perseverance

Toddlers almost never give up. They ask for what they want and do not rest until they get what they want. We adults often give in after experiencing failure a couple of times. Toddlers remind us to give it one more shot and try once more. After all, courage is a tiny voice in our head that says, “I will try one more time.”

Move On To The Next Best Thing

Toddlers hear ‘no’ multiple times during the day. They do not hold grudges for long periods of time, they move on to the next moment. We, as adults, have a difficult time accepting rejections and moving on as a result of taking it too hard. Toddlers do a wonderful job of reminding us that rejection does not last forever.

Be Curious

Toddlers want to know everything. They pay attention to the smallest things and explore their surroundings. They ask questions and are eager to learn more about the world around them. Somewhere along the way, most of us adults have forgotten to be curious. We rarely ask questions or want to know more about things around us. Toddlers do a wonderful job of reminding us that we are surrounded by the most amazing things, and we should explore them little by little.

Love Unconditionally

Toddlers give and receive love to those around them unconditionally. Toddlers do not base their love on materialistic things upon which adults often place unnecessary importance. They also express their feelings often to those they love. They also look for friends everywhere which is more than what we can say for most adults. That’s something we can definitely learn from the toddlers.

These are four important lessons you can learn from your toddler. To thank them and to boost their self-esteem, keep telling that you love them as frequently as possible. After all, all of us thrive on kindness and love.
